The wonderful and super Antonio Citterio
Antonio Citterio. Where do we begin?
Citterio, the great, the inspirational, was born in the little city of Meda in Italy back in 1950. Some say born, others say delivered by the Design Gods. He studied and graduated with a degree in architecture from Politecnico di Milano and went on to open his own studio by the age of 22. His main focus back then was just industrial design, until he formed 'Antonio Citterio & Partners' with Patricia Vel.
His company then focused on a broader range of design. He had offices for interior, architectural, and graphical design, as well as focusing on projects for both residential and commercial clients. From all of his experience and knowledge, Citterio was offered, and has served, as a professor for architecture at Universita Della Svizzera Italiana since 2006. He also regularly holds lecturers and conferences all over the world.
Antonio Citterio has produced designs for Kartell which are currently in the permanent collection of New York's MoMA ( museum of modern arts) and has other products, such as the Battista, at the standing exhibition at the Center Pompidou in Paris.
You may have already guessed, Citterio has won multiple awards. He was named Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce. As well as being a lecturer, holding conferences, and design, Citterio stands as a member of the Italian Design Council.
Manufacturers which Citterio works with include Ansorg, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Kartell, Arclinea, and Vitra.
