Get Set For Summer With The Vitra Landi Chair and Davy Table
The Landi chair was originally developed by Hans Coray for the 1939 Swiss National Exhibition, and currently holds an important position in the history of classic twentieth-century design.
Composed of a three-dimensional moulded, heat-treated seat shell with 91 punched holes on a separate base, the Landi chair is a design classic which established an entirely new typology.
It comes as no surprise that the lightweight, stackable Landi chair is extremely robust and weather-resistant due to its technical innovation and systematic use of materials such as stained aluminium alloy. The Landi’s simple and elegant form is the main element which has ensured it remained a design classic throughout the years and years to come.
After seeing the Landi Chair, young Swiss designer Michel Charlot felt it needed a table much more suited to it. Along came the Davy Table. Michel designed the Davy table solely to compliment the renowned Landi chair by using the same materials and ensuring it, too, was robust and weather resistant.
Therefore the Davy Table and Landi Chair are a well suited couple, but each can also be pleasantly combined with other chairs or tables.
Both the Landi Chair and the Davy table are manufactured by Vitra and are available to purchase here at Papillon Interiors!
